Create connected pipes directly in Substance Designer by painting simple masks using the built in SVG tool. In this example the tool is set to only output 90 degree pieces. Its very easy to make your own pieces for this mode.
The tool even support painting 45 degree pieces. Based on your input the tool picks the correct piece in an atlas texture. Creating pieces for the full 45 degree mode is a bit more time consuming but the product includes guides for how to make your own.
The left example is using a SD stripe node as input. And the right example uses a text node as input, the tool as fast as hell and tries its best to recreate the shapes using the pipe pieces.

This node allows you to use a SVG or Bitmap input to generate grid aligned pipes inside Substance Designer. A great way to add interest to any type of hard surface texture project.
This tool is very versatile and supports Grayscale, RGB and Normal map pieces. So it can do much more than just pipes. The only limitation is your own imagination.
Set the grid scale (for example 8x8) and start painting according to the supporting lines. You can switch between using only 90 degree angles or choose to also use 45 degree pieces.
The project comes with two sets of atlases, one pipes you see in the renders and the other is flat generic shapes. You can also create your own pieces either in Substance Designer directly or Photoshop or build / bake out 3d assets from your favorite 3d tool.
Use this tool to create something specific with ease, since all you need to do is paint a mask. You can also use it to generate intricate patterns / designs by using random noise as input.
